Progress

Made big steps forward last night. The walls in the media room are sanded and primed and a first coat of the paint went up. The color looks great, and will look even better when we get the floor in. It feels good to make it to this point. The walls still have issues, but all things considered look pretty good, and once the floor and furniture and everything is in, I hopefully won't even notice the problem areas.

Justin has auditions for The Seagull today at South. He's nervous about making a good experience for the kids (and he and I know better than most that getting cast in a show in high school *can* change your whole life - we met by being in Midsummer's together), though I think the fact that he's so cognizant of that will help make sure he's doing a good job. He's going to stay and watch their production of Pirates of Penzance in the evening, so I'll have the house to myself tonight. I'm planning on using the night to finish the painting in the addition, and cleaning out as much stuff as I can, so tomorrow we can start on the floor. It'll be tempting to curl up in bed, instead, and just enjoy having the house to myself. Maybe I'll have time for both.

I made dinner last night! The broiler kind of kicked my ass, as I'm not used to it having a hi/lo option. The hi was way too high for our steaks, but they came out okay. I'm hoping that the risotto goes smoothly tomorrow. I really missed being able to cook, so it was nice. It'll be even better in a couple weeks when I'm able to come home and make dinner and just hang out with only small projects to do, not huge ones. Looking forward to having my regular life back. So maybe I won't curl up in bed tonight, but make the push necessary to get things done this weekend. Work now so I can be lazy later.
