So after a few more weeks of house hunting, Justin and I have found a house that we think will work for us, that we can afford, and that isn't a freaking short sale. The offer has been submitted and I just wish that I was more excited about it. But considering this is the...5th(?) purchase agreement I've submitted, the polish has worn off a bit and I don't really want to get my hopes up. We'll see what happens.
The house is on 11th Avenue and 40th Street, so a real nice quiet part of town. Far enough east of Chicago that it feels safe and completely residential, but close enough for me to walk over and catch the bus. Close(r) to our favorite Chinese food place, and pretty conveniently located for most of our friends (sorry, Xanders_Mom). We're pretty sure our house is the most neglected on the block, as far as outward appearances go, which means that with some landscaping we should fit right in.
The inside is in need of a lot of cosmetic work, but that's the kind I enjoy, so I'm excited. Ugh, fake wood paneling *everywhere*. That's the first thing to go. There's an addition built on the back of the house, extending the kitchen into a family room that is oddly shaped, but has potential. I'm hoping this one works, kiddies. I'll keep you posted.

Crossing my fingers for you!
P.S. If there is parking for me, I don't mind driving into town at all.
- This soccer mom in training doesn't parrallel.
Ha! There is news - I'll be posting on it tomorrow. Get ready to drive into town in October...or maybe November - we need time to take the paneling down and paint and all. Nice residential street - lots of places to park that don't require parallel maneuvers.
